J. L. Schmidt
J. L. Schmidt has been involved in downtown commercial revitalization and historic preservation for 10 years. Following a career as a journalist, interrupted briefly by a financially unprofitable stint as a bar-restaurant owner, Schmidt became director of the statewide Main Street program in 1999. A year ago he became executive director of Heritage Nebraska, a statewide historic preservation advocacy and education organization.
