The 2011 Winter Lecture Series: Russia and the Post-Soviet States
The 2011 Winter Lecture Series will focus on Russia and the Post-Soviet States.
Each two hour session will begin at 7:00 PM featuring a guest lecturer, followed by refreshments and a half hour of questions and dialogue. The seventh and final event will include a dinner at 6:00 and a panel discussion at 7:00. Dinner reservations may be made at one of the earlier sessions or through the church office.
Additional parking is available in the Catholic Social Services lot across Eldon Drive west of the church.

All sessions are open to the public and free of charge.
January 23: Robert H. Stoddard, Professor Emeritus of Geography, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will speak on the geography of Russia and the post-Soviet States.
January 30: James C. McClelland, Associate Professor Emeritus of History, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will speak on Soviet and Russian History.
February 6: No Session
February 13: Bill Gleason, Coordinator, Eurasian Studies at the US Department of State, on relationships between Russia and the post-Soviet states, focusing especially on Russian-Ukranian relations.
February 20: Bruce M. Garver, Professor of History, University of Nebraska at Omaha, will discuss the former Soviet-block nations of Eastern Europe and their relationships with Russia.
February 27: Mariya Omelicheva, Associate Director, Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, University of Kansas, will discuss the former Soviet republics in Asia and their relationships with Russia.
March 6: Julie Albrecht & Marilynn Schnepf, of the UNL Department of Nutrition & Health Sciences, will speak about their experiences in Tajikistan.
March 13: A dinner and discussion about Russia and the Post-Soviet Union (requires advanced sign-up and begins at 6:00 rather than 7:00).
